Overview
As the heaviest member of the Pure Drive family, the Pure Drive Tour offers a tad more stability and plow through than the the standard Pure Drive. It also hits a heavier ball, making it more dangerous in the hands of an aggressive baseliner. Updated with Babolat's new HTR System, this racquet's graphite layup has been reengineered for higher torsional rigidity, resulting in more efficient energy transfer to the ball. To help soak up harsher vibrations of this stiff construction, Babolat has devoted more real estate in the shaft to SWX Pure Feel, a thin and extremely flexible viscoelastic rubber that sits between the carbon layers. Additional features include FSI Power Technology, which optimizes the grommet system and string spacing for higher energy return and vicious RPMs (think heavy ball).
From the baseline the Pure Drive Tour offers impressive acceleration for an 11.8 ounce racquet. In addition to giving you the needed mass to absorb and redirect the pace of a heavy hitting opponent, this racquet's raw power power and spin-friendly targeting make it dangerous in the hands of an aggressive player. At net the Pure Drive Tour delivers the best of both worlds. It moves fast when the pressure is on while also giving you enough stability and pop to hit piercing volleys. This stick is also a weapon on serves where the combination of power, spin and precision will translate into some very weak replies. Ultimately, with this update to the Pure Drive Tour, Babolat keeps a good thing going. Aggressive players looking to ratchet up the power and spin should give this racquet a very serious look.

Comments: I've played with Babolat, Yonex, Wilson, and Fischer throughout my career, with the vast amount of time spent with Babolat. I play an aggressive baseline game with a heavy, topspin ball. This stick rewards big cuts on the ball with lots of easy power and spin. Personally, I choose to replace the original grip with a Tennis Warehouse 22mm leather grip, throw on a Wilson Pro overgrip and hit the courts. This adds just a bit more controlled connection to the ball and the slightest bit more weight (if you can even discern the weight difference). For stringing, I prefer something around 50 pounds, usually stringing the crosses a couple pounds looser than the mains for a slightly more pocketed (spin friendly) feel, while still having plenty of crisp pop. If you like a frame around or just under 12 oz. (strung weight) and hit with heavy topspin, definitely give this a try. If you don't, still feel free to give it a try because you may enjoy it, too. Awesome frame!
