Overview

Head makes big changes to the iconic Prestige MP, starting with the name. This update is called the Prestige Pro, and it packs the same surgical 18x20 string pattern and sublime feel that has long defined this classic racquet. It also combines a hefty strung weight with a sub-330 swingweight, giving it a seductive blend of speed and stability. According to our playtesters, this update captures the outstanding ball feedback and precision of previous generations, but offers slightly easier access to depth, making it a tad more user-friendly. In addition to changing the name, Head updates the feel by adding a uniquely flexible Auxetic construction to the racquet’s yolk. The result, according to Head, is a racquet that optimizes feedback according to impact location. The Prestige Pro also benefits from Graphene 360+ (labeled Graphene Inside), which strengthens the frame in key locations to provide a more powerful and stable hitting experience. Ultimately, with its laser-like targeting and plush feel, this update checks all the right boxes. Experienced players looking for a traditional player's racquet will appreciate how easy this one plays right out of the box.

Previous Feedback

Comments: After watching and reading all the reviews on the Prestige Pro and how it's recommended for 5.0+ players and how it is very demanding, I would say all that is not entirely true. As a 3.5 player, I found this racquet to have great control and my serves were on point. Of course I do agree to an extent this is for those who have the technique and definitely not for a beginner, but my forehand groundstokes were winners with this racquet. I would say the Prestige Pro is best with a hybrid string, not a full bed of poly as that made the racquet very muted and dead. Overall, this racquet is control, control, control with technique!

Comments: Just got two matched. Wow, first off, these look amazing. Classic soft, low power feel. Heavy, but not to the point where it becomes a problem. Closest thing to my old intelligence midplus. Wish they kept the same head size as those old midplus's though. In my opinion, all the Prestiges should be 95-96. Head has plenty of other 98-100 racquets to choose from.

Comments: I started playing with the Prestige Mid that Marat Safin used many years ago. I found that as I got older, I needed a bigger racquet head to be more forgiving and slightly more power; particularly for a one handed backhand. I played with the Prestige MP for a while and after Liquid Metal switched to Wilson, Babolat, Dunlop, Technifibre, Volkl and Prince. I seemed to be missing something. Though I tried some of the older versions of Prestige MP, I did not like them as they seemed to have lost the feel. It was not until I tried the 2019 version (all red one) that I got my interest in Head racquets back again. I am glad Head improved the 2019 version of the new Prestige Pro 2021. I absolutely love it and have switched to it as my main racket of choice. Got a pair and have tested them in match situation. They are truly control racquets. Precision, precision, precision is the game. With the correct technique you have great ground strokes and really great net play. Serve is great. You probably won't get power of stiffer frames, but make up for it with precision. Overall still the best players racket in the market right now. Only wished Head provided matched pair with exact swing weight.

Comments: Head has a real winner with this layup of graphite. The feel is excellent; it lies somewhere between an Intelligence Prestige and the Graphene Touch Prestige. The power is noticeably higher than the Touch. It was stable and there is no problem playing with it in stock form. Normally, I play with an Intelligence Prestige Mid customized to about 13oz. The Prestige Pro 2021 is great for forehands, I was able to blast forehands at my opponent and he was unable to get them back, even if they were going straight at him. Backhands were good too, but forehand is my main weapon. Slices were excellent, very controlled with good depth. If Head could bring back the Prestige Mid with this tech and an 18x20, then they would have a real winner. I think they haven't sold as many Mids as they would have liked because they changed the specs from the original. If they change the specs to target the few, then they lose the traditional Mid player consumer base. I would hate to move to Prince to play with a similar, but in my opinion, inferior lookalike. Prestiges are awesome racquets, and this one is great for the Midplus users out there
