Best Men's Overall Tennis Shoe: Asics Gel Resolution 9

Image of the Asics Gel Resolution 9

What we love: We're now in the ninth iteration of the Asics Gel Resolution. Over the years, this model has gained fans for its mix of durability, stability and cushioning. With the Gel Resolution 9, Asics delivers and improves upon what players love about the series. The upper is more flexible and an extended Dynawall makes these shoes even more stable.

Best Women's Overall Tennis Shoe: Asics Solution Speed FF 3

What we love: The Solution Speed series is the lightest and fastest in the Asics tennis shoe lineup. We're just getting underway with our review testing, but early indications are that these shoes are just light and fast as previous versions while offering a pretty stable feel for such a lightweight model.

Best Durability: Asics Gel Resolution 9

What we love: Nope, that's not a glitch. We picked the Gel Resolution 9 as our pick for best in class durability as well as best overall men's tennis shoe. There are other durable tennis shoes out there, but the Gel Resolution 9s are just great all-around. Read our full reviews for the men's and women's shoes for more feedback from the playtesters.

Best Durability: New Balance CT Rally

Image of the women's New Balance CT Rally

What we love: The New Balance CT Rally was new to the market later in 2023. As an update to the Lav, the CT Rally is built with stability, comfort and durability in mind. We love that New Balance offers these shoes in standard and wide widths for both men and women. Both the men and women's playtest teams praised the overall performance of these shoes, with one of the few downsides being breathability. You can read more in our men's and women's reviews.

Best Durability: Nike Zoom Vapor Cage 4 Rafa

What we love: These Nike Zoom Cage 4s are the most durable in the Nike tennis shoe lineup. The outsole is integrated into the upper to help provide protection for hard court sliders. The shoes are also stable for aggressive movers. Check out our full review for more information.

Best Stability: adidas Barricade 13

What we love: There are few, if any, tennis shoes with a more storied history than the adidas Barricade. Building upon the 2021 update, the Barricade 13 is designed to be lighter and faster than Barricades of yesteryear, yet still offers the stability and durability that made this franchise a player favorite. New for 2024 are geo-fit heel pods and improved soft, stretchable tongue. The upper material has also been updated.

Best Stability: Nike Zoom Vapor 11

What we love: The name Vapor hasn't always been associated with being the most stable in Nike's line, but starting with the React Vapor NXT and now the Vapor 11 that has changed. The Vapor 11 has a half-bootie construction for a locked-in feel, and there's also a molded sidewall, allowing for more aggressive cuts and push-offs. These also aren't your "lightweight" Vapors, coming in at 15.5 ounces (men's size 10.5) and 12.9 ounces (women's size 8.5).

Best Stability: Asics Court FF 3

What we love: Designed for Novak Djokovic, one of the most aggressive movers on the pro tour, these Court FF 3s won't hold you back on court. The upper hugs the foot like a glove thanks to the mono-sock bootie construction for good support. Players who are looking for a blend of stability and a speedy feel will find it here.

Best Lightweight: adidas Ubersonic 4.1

What we love: The Ubersonic 4.1 is the flagship speed option in the adidas tennis shoe lineup. Compared to the Ubersonic 4.0, this 4.1 version has an updated fit to boost overall comfort. For additional comfort, the shoes have Lightstrike material in the midsole and a lightweight Primeknit upper.

Best Lightweight: New Balance 996v5

What we love: The New Balance 996v5 is light, flexible and feels fast on court. This fifth version maintains the speedy feel the line is known for, but it improves upon durability and stability with a new NDure upper material.

Best Comfort: Nike Vapor Pro 2

What we love: The Nike Vapor Pro 2 has a new look compared to its predecessor. Also new is an Air Zoom unit in the forefoot for additional cushioning, yet the feel remains light and speedy.

Best Comfort: ON The Roger Pro

What we love: The Roger Pro is ON's first performance tennis shoe, and it brings the comfortable, responsive cushioning from ON's running line to the court. The 100% carbon fiber Speedboard located in the midfoot shank region gives explosive energy return and also creates a more stable ride.

Best Value: Wilson Rush Pro 4.0

What we love: The Wilson Rush Pro 4.0 delivers well-balanced performance for the court. The shoes are stable, durable and comfortable, plus they're available in both hard court and clay models.
