Overview

Introducing the Phantom 100X (290g), the lightest and fastest member of the Phantom family! At under 11 ounces strung, this racquet not only gives the intermediate player a seductive level of spin, feel and control, it also moves fast when the pressure is on. Thanks to a 58RA stiffness level, the 100X will give you the arm-friendly comfort and buttery feedback for which the Phantom series is known. This racquet features Prince's Anti-Torque System, which deploys Textreme and Twaron in the racquet's shaft and upper hoop for less racquet twisting at impact. The payoff is a more powerful and stable hitting experience. This racquet also also has a variable CTS Beam, which deploys a thin 18mm shaft for outstanding ball feedback. On groundstrokes the Phantom 100X (290g) is one of the more plush and solid feeling racquets in its weight class. It rewards full swings with impressive ease, and the open 16x18 string pattern gives it a very spin-friendly response. Although it isn't as stable as a traditional player's racquet, it absorbs and redirects pace well for a light racquet. The easy acceleration helps when scrambling on defense or executing shots on the run. On volleys this racquet plays lighter and faster than the 100X (305) but it still manages to feel plush and solid at impact. It also delivers exceptional touch, and the easy targeting on serves will help you force some weak replies. All in all, the Phantom 100X (290g) is perfect for the rising intermediates who wants an arm-friendly player's racquet that does everything well.

Previous Feedback

Comments: I received a Phantom 100X 290 from TW and played with it about 30 minutes. I also played with the Clash 100, TW lists it as a similar racquet for their specs for about four hours. They both are easy to swing, and gentle on the arm and elbow. Clash feels heftier than Phantom for only 0.3 ounce difference. Both are strung with Cyclone 17 Orange at 53 pounds. The Clash is more powerful if I hit the sweetspot while the Phantom is more accurate and less loopier than Clash. The Phantom is easier to adjust than the Clash. I am still searching for right grip and hitting angles. Phantom is more predictable while Clash is bit erratic. Phantom vibrates a bit when the ball hits off-center while Clash tends to twist a bit. Clash's thicker frame makes it powerful and unpredictable while the thin beam of Phantom produces less powerful and sharper shots. Although both frames are lighter than most players' racquet, the ball tends to stay inside of the line due to their low flex levels of 55 for Clash and 58 for the Phantom. I think Phantom power level is lower than 775 as printed on the racquet. More like 700. I can hit more consistently with the Phantom than Clash, but power is compromised. Head G Speed MP is somewhere between the Clash and Phantom. I guess I should spend more time with Phantom in order to have a more accurate review.
