Expert Picks: Yonex Strings
Our playtesters choose the best Yonex strings for comfort/power, control, spin and all-around value.
Strings are crucial to the performance of your racquet. In addition to regulating the amount of shock that reaches your arm, your string choice gives you the ability to fine-tune your racquet's power, control and spin to complement your unique playing style. With so many strings on the market, it can be challenging to find the perfect string. With that in mind, we’ve selected our favorite Yonex strings from the most important performance categories.
Multifilament string: comfort & power
Given the amount of shock that gets transferred to your arm during repeated ball impact, the need for extra comfort is crucial to a great many players, especially those with lighter and stiffer racquets. Comfort strings get their arm-friendly feel from a flexible construction that helps absorb impact shock while also converting more of your stroke’s energy into outgoing ball speed (aka power). The top comfort and power strings come from the natural gut and multifilament community, both of which do a superior job protecting your arm and loading the ball with power.
Our pick for best multifilament: Yonex Rexis
“Yonex Rexis is one of my go to multifilement strings for comfort, power and feel. It is soft on the arm and holds its tension well, I can string it up high and be confident that its not going to feel tight or stiff on my arm. If it works for Naomi Osaka, then it works for me ” - Jaye, TO playtester
Polyester string: control
Control strings are typically firm, low powered and durable. The best control strings come from the polyester category. Although too stiff and underpowered for beginners, polyester strings helped revolutionize tennis by giving advanced players the needed control to swing bigger and load the ball with unprecedented levels of pace and spin.
Our pick for best control string: Poly Tour Strike
“I love the crisp response of Poly Tour Strike and find it a very direct and precise feeling string. I have that connected sense with my shots and can judge both the depth and direction of the ball as it exits my racquet. I also get enough spin to take aggressive cuts at the ball and be confident I will keep it inside the lines.” - Chris, TW playtester

Polyester string: spin
The best spin strings come from the polyester community, and they tend to have shaped or textured surfaces for gripping the ball. They also typically have low-friction surfaces that enable them to slide and snap back powerfully during impact. Finally, their low power levels make it easier for the player to achieve the vicious stroke speeds required for heavy spin.
Our pick for best spin string: Poly Tour Spin
“Poly Tour Spin gives me everything I want from a co-poly: tons of control and predictability along with the needed bite for topspin shots. Now, don't get me wrong, there are a plethora of co-polys on the market nowadays, all designed to maximize control and spin. What sets Poly Tour Spin apart is that it holds tension better than most other co-polys and maintains playability well over time. I like firmer, crisper feeling co-polys, so this one is right up my alley, but if you are a fan of softer co-polys, you might look to Yonex's Poly Tour Air or Poly Tour Pro.” - Troy, TW playtester
Value strings
Whether you are a big hitter on a budget or a comfort seeker who doesn't want to break the bank, the Yonex string lineup has great options. Here are two of our favorite value strings.
Our pick for best value polyester: Poly Tour Pro
“One of the best rounded strings on the market. Poly tour pro does everything well and is half the price of some of the higher priced strings, it has power, spin, comfort and confidence all wrapped into one package" - Jaye, TO Playtester
